Water Treatment Facility

After months of hard work the start of construction on the Town of Troy’s biggest infrastructure project in recent years will be starting soon. This new water filtration facility will improve our water quality and will facilitate our ability to better serve our residents and businesses alike.

For many years, our water treatment process has consisted only off adding the necessary chemicals to disinfect the water.  We have always passed all inspections and testing, and our water has been safe to drink.  What is different about this plant is that it will address concerns associated with minerals that occur naturally in our groundwater aquifer.  The filtration system will greatly reduce the amount of manganese, iron, and other minerals that are perfectly safe to drink, but can cause problems with discoloration and with sediment in our both our water mains and the plumbing in your house.

This project was made possible through a funding partnership with the United States Department of Agriculture Office of Rural Development.  The low interest loan is funding the $1.6 Million price tag, but also the necessary engineering, financial consultation, and the project inspection services.
